Debra G. James
was born in Long Beach, California. After graduating from the University of
Southern California with a Bachelor of Arts in 1978, Ms. James received her
Doctor of Jurisprudence, cum laude, from the University of Houston in 1982.
Ms. James was a member of the University of Houston Law Review and a Candidate
Editor of the Houston Journal of International Law from 1981-82, and was the
Outstanding Young Lawyer of Galveston County in 1988-89. Ms. James is a member
of the Galveston Bar Association and served as its Secretary in 1987 and a Director
in 1988. From 1991-1994, Ms. James served on the District 5B Grievance Committee.
Ms. James practices in the areas of banking law and real estate law.
